How to Find Area of Quadrilateral?

The term quadrilateral is defined as a polygon with 04 edges and 04 vertices. It is used by analogy with triangle, and tetragon for constancy with pentagon (Five-sided), hexagon (Six-sided) and so on.

What Is The Area Of Quadrilateral?

The Quadrilateral has the following properties and it is 2-dimensional (a flat shape), closed (the lines join up), and has straight sides.

  • Four Sides (Edges)
  • Four Vertices (Corners)
  • Interior Angles That Add To 360 Degrees

How To Find The Area Of A Quadrilateral?

Following Formula for Area of Quadrilateral is helpful for you to Find The Area Of A Quadrilateral, must have a glance:

Area Of Quadrilateral General Formula

Area = (s1 × s2) × sin(θ)

Area Of The Quadrilateral of a Rectangle

Area = base × height, or A = b × h

For Example:

If the base of a rectangle has a length of 10 inches and the height has a length of 5 inches, then the area of the rectangle is simply

=10 × 5 (b × h) = 50 square inches.

Area of Quadrilateral of a Square

Area = side × side or A = s2

For Example:

If one side of a square has a length of 4 feet, (t = 4), then the area of this square is simply t2, or 4 x 4 = 16 square feet.

Calculate Area Of Quadrilateral of a Rhombus

Area = (d1 × d2)/2

For Example:

1. If a rhombus has diagonals with a length of 6 meters and 8 meters, then its area is simply =(6 × 8)/2 = 48/2 = 24 square meters.

2. A rhombus has sides of 10 miles and 5 miles and the straight-line distance between the 10 mile (16.1 km) sides is 3 miles (4.8 km). If you want to find the area of the rhombus, you would multiply 10 × 3 = 30 square miles.

Types of Quadrilaterals

How to Find Area Of Irregular Quadrilateral?

Consider the following, in a quadrilateral the diagonal is 42 cm and the two perpendiculars on it from the other vertices are 8 cm and 9 cm respectively. Find the Area Of Quadrilateral Formula With Diagonals.

Given that from the figure AC=42m, BN=9 m and DM=8 m

The area of ABCD= area of ΔABC+area of ΔACD
The area of ABCD= 1/2*9 * 42 + 1/2 * 8 * 42
= 189+168=357 square meters.

How to find Area Of Cyclic Quadrilateral

Area Of Quadrilateral Formula is provided below:

The area of a cyclic quadrilateral =√(s−a)(s−b)(s−c)(s−d)

For Example:

In a circular grassy plot, a quadrilateral shape with its corners touching the boundary of the plot is to be paved with bricks. Find the area of the quadrilateral when the sides of the quadrilateral are 36 m, 77 m, 75 m and 40 m.

Given that the sides of the quadrilateral are a=36m, b=77m, c=75m and d=40m

S = a+b+c+d/2
S= 36+77+75+40/2
S = 228/2
S = 114 m

The area of the cyclic quadrilateral =√(s−a)(s−b)(s−c)(s−d)
The area of the cyclic quadrilateral = √(114−36)(114−77)(114−75)(114−40)
The area of the cyclic quadrilateral =√78×37×39×74
=39×37×2=2886 square meters.
