सीएसआईआर का पूर्ण रूप “वैज्ञानिक और औद्योगिक अनुसंधान परिषद” है। काउंसिल ऑफ साइंटिफिक एंड इंडस्ट्रियल रिसर्च (CSIR) भारत सरकार द्वारा सितंबर 1942 में एक स्वायत्त निकाय के रूप में स्थापित किया गया था जो कि विभिन्न एस एंड टी क्षेत्रों में अपने अत्याधुनिक अनुसंधान एवं विकास ज्ञान आधार के लिए जाना जाता है, एक समकालीन आरएंडडी संगठन है। सीएसआईआर भारत में सबसे बड़ा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन के रूप में उभरा है।

CSIR-IITR is a pioneer in toxicology research and seeks to address human health and environmental problems. The institute aims to fulfill its goals with the following objectives –
