Graduate Management Admission Test is an International level entrance exam organized by the GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) once in a year. It is the gateway to get admission in MBA at institutions and universities of foreign countries.

GMAT Syllabus

GMAT exam includes 4 sections. GMAT Exam Syllabus for all the sections is given below, candidates who are going to write this exam they may check syllabus properly:

Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA):

The first section of the GMAT is Analytical Writing Assessment. Candidates are require to complete in 30 minutes. This is an essay section where the candidates have to write an analysis of the presented argument. This section has no set topics.

 This section covers:-

  • writing skills and abilities
  • Clarity and logic in your argument
  • Overall importance of your essay with respect to the given topic

Integrated Reasoning (IR):

Candidates will get 30 minutes complete Integrated Reasoning section. This section was included in GMAT in June 2012. This measure the candidate’s ability to check information given in multiple formats from multiple sources – the skills needed to do well in a technologically advanced, data-driven world.

The IR section includes 12 questions of four types:

  • Multi source reasoning
  • Graphics interpretation
  • Table analysis
  • Two-part analysis

Quantitative Aptitude:

This section checks your fundamental mathematical skills and your caliber to reason quantitatively. Candidates need to solve 37 quant questions in 75 minutes and questions are based on:

  • Problem solving (PS):  Questions given, for which you have to calculate the answer.
  • Data Sufficiency (DS):  You need to understand whether the given data is sufficient to solve a particular question.

 Quant section includes various topics:

  • Algebraic expressions and equations
  • Functions
  • Exponents
  • Arithmetic and Geometric Progression
  • Quadratic Equations
  • Inequalities and Basic statistics

Verbal:

This is the last section of GMAT. Candidates need to solve 41 verbal questions in 75 minutes. Through this section candidates are evaluated on Reading and understanding the written material, Reasoning and appraising the arguments and Rectifying the written material in accordance with standard written English.

This section includes various topics:

  • Reading Comprehension (RC):   under this applicants need to give answer related to the given passage.
  • Critical Reasoning (CR):  You need to find the premise, conclusion, assumption, etc in short passage.
  • Sentence Correction (SC):  A part of the sentence is underlined, and five options are provided. You need to spot the error, and mark the right option.
