Basically there are three levels of Chartered Accountancy in India:
- Entry Level Test: Common Proficiency Test
- First Stage Of Theoretical Education: Professional Competence Course
- Final Stage Of Theoretical Education: Final Course
Common Proficiency Test (CPT)
Candidates who have completed their matriculation can appear in the CPT. Basically CPT is a type of entry level test for this professional course. This exam is of 4 hours duration. This exam includes objective type question and also having negative marking.
Professional Competence Course
After clearing the CPT candidates can join Professional Competence Course with Articled Training and ITT. Articled training is a type of practical training, means, in this process candidates works under a chartered Accountant. After successfully completion of Articled Training candidates become eligible for ITT (Information Technology Training) which is of 100 hours.
“Candidates who are Graduates in commerce with 50% marks, non commerce Graduates in maths with 60% marks, without maths non- commerce with 55% marks can directly join the Professional Competence Course.”
After completion of this ITT candidates may register for Final Course. When a student clears the Final Course he becomes eligible to join the Institute Of Chartered Accountants Of India.
