IAS Prelims Exam Pattern 2018:

Want to know what is the pattern of IAS exam? Have a look!!

  • There will be two question papers in the pre exam and both will be of objective (MCQ) type  according to the UPSC IAS Exam Pattern 2018.
  • Both the question papers will be conducting in Hindi and English language.
  • The questions will be asked from General Studies and Aptitude Test.
  • The total time duration of both the question papers will be of 2 hours each.
  • 1/3 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Blind candidates are given an extra time of 20 minutes for each paper in the prelims exam.
  • It is mandatory for the candidates to appear in both the papers of civil services prelims exam for the evaluation.
  • The marks scored by the candidates in the preliminary examination are not counted for the final score.
  • Candidates should score a minimum of 33 percent in GS Paper II (CSAT) to qualify to the next stage of the exam i.e. Civil Services Mains.

IAS Mains Exam Pattern  2018:

  • Candidates, who will qualify the preliminary stage of IAS examination, are allowed to apply for the main examination and check UPSC IAS Exam Pattern 2018 for mains.
  • Main Examination will be held in the month of October-December and candidates who qualify the written examination will be called for the interview and their personality analysis by UPSC.
  • Main exam will have 9 different papers.
  • All questions in the Main exam will be conventional essay type questions.
  • Among the 9 papers, Paper I and Paper II will be compulsory papers and rests are optional subjects picked by applicants.
  • The respective authority has specified the maximum marks for two qualifying paper is 300 for each paper. Remaining seven papers will be 250 marks.

IAS Personality Test 2018:

Union Public Service Commission is going to conduct personality or physical examination in the month of March / April for those candidates who will qualify in both pre exam and mains examination. Through this exam, the commission will examine the physical strength and personality of the candidates.

IAS Personal Interview 2018:

According to IAS exam paper pattern, Those aspirants who will qualify all stages such as Pre, Mains and Personality Test, will be finally called for interview. Interview is conducted by the interview panel of the organization in the month of march / April. Candidates are required to bring the original as well as self-attested copies of their documents along with them for verification.
