Studying in the esteemed IIT is set to burn in a big hole in your pocket because Union Human Resource Development ministry has hiked IIT Annual Fee From Rs 90000 to Rs 2 Lakh for Undergraduate Courses. Ministry administrators said that an announcement to hike the fee by over double has been taken by the human resources development ministry following an offer by an Indian Institute of Technology board. So the candidates belonging to those families whose yearly proceeds is less than One lakh will be capable to gain 100% fee waiver, with those belonging to SC (scheduled castes) and ST (scheduled tribes) and the differently abled.
In the previous month the Standing Committee of IIT Council (SCIC) had accepted a threefold rise in yearly fees and one more key proposal the SCIC had prepared was the planned new entrance exams considered to analysis the aptitude organized by a National Authority of Test would be held from 2017 onwards.
If the proposals of the Standing Committee of IIT Council are established, still the fees of overseas candidates would be increased from the present yearly USD 4000 to USD 10,000. Not just the schooling fee, the board also planned the beginning of a national aptitude test to choose the candidates hopeful to join the best technological institutes.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development officials told PTI that the twelve-monthly fee for UG (Undergraduate) programs in all twenty three (23) branches of the IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) will be raised from Rs 90,000 to Rs 2 lakh from the forthcoming educational year. On Wednesday, the Human Resource Development Minister assured a fee waiver for every SC (scheduled castes) and ST (scheduled tribes), Dalit and physically challenged candidates of the 23 branches of IIT.

The sudden rise is depends on a new model where the whole running costs would be borne by the IITs, therefore dropping its addiction on the government funding and after that, will only reimburse for capital possessions such as labs and maintain transportation establishment. The contenders of NITs will also reimburse a hiked fee of Rs. 1.25 lakh per annum from this educational year, which was accepted previous year.
