Indian Economic Service Exam

Nationality:

A candidate must be either: —

  • A citizen of India; or
  • A subject of Nepal; or
  • A subject of Bhutan; or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • A candidate who is going to apply for the Indian Economic Service exam must have obtained a Post-Graduate Degree in Economics / Applied Economics / Business Economics / Econometrics from a University incorporated by of an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India.
  • Applicants who are going to apply for the Indian Statistical Service must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics / Mathematical Statistics / Applied Statistics as one of the subject or a Master’s degree in Statistics / Mathematical Statistics / Applied Statistics from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India.

Age Limitation:

Applicants must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, 2017 i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1987 and not later than 1st August, 1996.

Physical Standards:

Aspirants must be physically fit according to physical standard for admission to Indian Economic Service/ Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2017.

Fee Detail:

  • Contenders are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/-
  • All female aspirants and contenders belonging to scheduled cases / scheduled tribes and physically disabled candidates are not required to pay any fee.
  • No fee exemption is, however, available to OBC category and they are required to pay the full prescribed fee.
  • Fee should be submitted either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur / State Bank of Hyderabad / State Bank of Mysore / State Bank of Patiala/ State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa / Master Credit / Debit Card.

Penalty for Wrong Answers (In Objective Type Question Paper):

Candidates should note that there will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Paper.

Part II

Viva voce of such candidates as may be called by the Commission carrying a maximum of 200 marks. Through interview general and specialized knowledge and abilities of the candidate will be checked. The examination will be held at the following centers:-

Procedure to Apply:

  • Participants are required to apply online only by using the Official website of organization that is www.upsconline.nic.in
  • Then, press “Online Application for various examination of UPSC” tab.
  • Aspirants will be required to complete the Online Application Form containing two stages viz. Part-I and Part-II as per the instructions available in the above mentioned site through drop down menu.
  • Then attaches attested copies of all relevant testimonials in support of education, caste.
  • Must upload scanned photograph and signature duly scanned in the .jpg format in such a manner that each file should not exceed 40 KB each and must not be less than 3 KB in size for the photograph
  • After filling form in correct manner, submit it within given time.
  • At last, take a photo copy of application form for future use.
