All Indian President Details
Prasad was the first President of independent India, from Bihar and also the longest-serving President, for 12 years. He had participated actively in India’s freedom movement. He was also the only president to have been selected twice for the office.
Radhakrishnan was a great philosopher and writer and also held the position of vice chancellor of the Andhra University and Banaras Hindu University. He was a very prominent scholar and academician. Radhakrishnan was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1954 before becoming the President. He was the first President from South India.
Hussain was vice chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University and a recipient of Padma Vibhushan and Bharat Ratna. He died in office, the first to do so. He was also the shortest-serving President. He was also the first Muslim President.
Varahagiri Venkata Giri:
He was elected Vice President of India in 1967. He was a great orator and a prolific writer and was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1975. Following the death of President Zakir Hussain, Giri was appointed as Acting President of India. He was a prominent Congress leader.
Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed:
Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed is the fifth President of India, served as a Minister before being elected as president and was a multifarious personality. He was a member of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee and elected to the Assam Assembly.
Neelam Sanjiva Reddy:
N.S. Reddy was the first Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh State and 6th President of India. he completed his primary education from Madras. Neelam Sanjiva Reddy was the only Member of Parliament from the Janata Party to get elected from Andhra Pradesh.
Giani Zail Singh:
In March 1972, Singh assumed the position of chief Minister of Punjab, and in 1980, he became Union Home Minister. He was the first Sikh to hold the position of the President of India. In 1956, Singh became the Senior Vice-President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee.
In 1942, Venkataraman was jailed by the British for his involvement in the Indian independence movement. In 1935, R. Venkataraman was enrolled in the High Court of Madras. During the years from 1947 to 1950, R.Venkataraman also served as secretary of the madras Provincial Bar Federation.
Shankar Dayal Sharma:
Dayal Sharma was Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, and the Indian Minister for Communications. Dayal Sharma was the 9th President of the Indian Republic and served his tenure from 1992 to 1997. He has also served as the governor of Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Maharashtra.
Kocheril Raman Narayanan:
Narayanan served as India’s ambassador to Thailand, Turkey, China and United States of America. He received doctorates in Science and Law and was also a chancellor in several universities. He was also the vice-chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University. He was the first President from Kerala, and also the first Dalit President.
A. P. J. Abdul Kalam:
Bharat Ratna Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, normally known as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He was the 11th President of India. Kalam was the visiting professor at the Indian Institute of Management, Indore. Kalam was a scientist who played a leading role in the development of India’s ballistic missile and nuclear weapons programs.
Patil was the first woman to become the President of India. She was also the first female Governor of Rajasthan.
Pranab Kumar Mukherjee is the 13th and the current president of India. Previously he was the Finance Minister of India and a leader of the ongoing 15th Lok Sabha. In 1969, Pranab Mukherjee started his parliamentary career as a member of Rajya Sabha from the congress party.
