List of Vice Presidents of India
Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan
Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was an Indian philosopher and statesman. He became Vice Presidents of India two times in the year of 1952 and 1957. Radhakrishnan was awarded so many awards in his life. We celebrate his birthday as Teachers’ Day on 5 September. He was also 2nd president of India from 14 May 1962 – 13 May 1967.
Dr. Zakir Husain
Dr. Zakir Husain was appointed as the third Vice Presidents of India from 13 May 1962 – 12 May 1967. He was an educator and intellectual and also a first Muslim president. From 13 May 1967 – 3 May 1969, he worked as President of India and from 6 July 1957 – 11 May 1962 as Governor of Bihar.
Varahagiri Venkata Giri
Shri. Varahagiri Venkata Giri was 4th Vice Presidents of India. From 13th May 1967 to 3rd May 1969 he worked as Vice Presidents of India. On 24 August 1969 he was appointed as President of India. He was also appointed as Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Governor of Kerala and Governor of Karnataka.
Gopal Swarup Pathak
Mr. Gopal Swarup Pathak was Vice Presidents of India from 31st August 1969 till 30 August 1974. He was Governor of Karnataka from 13 May 1967 – 31 August 1969. His son R. S. Pathak was Chief Justice of India. He was died on 4 October 1982 in age of 86 years.
Basappa Danappa Jatti
Mr. Basappa Danappa Jatti was Vice-President of India from 31 August 1974 – 30 August 1979. He was a religious man, philosopher and reformer. He was Chief Minister of Mysore, Lieutenant Governor of Pondicherry, Governor of Odisha and Acting President of India.

Kocheril Raman Narayanan
Mr. Kocheril Raman Narayanan was born in a small thatched hut at Perumthanam. He completed 12th at C. M. S. College, Kottayam and B. A. (Honours) and M.A. in English literature from the University of Travancore. From 21 August 1992 to 24 July 1997 he was appointed as Vice Presidents of India.
Mr. Krishan Kant was elected as Vice Presidents of India from 21 August 1997 – 27 July 2002. He was Son of noted Congress politician and later parliamentarian. Mr. Krishan Kant was Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Governor of Tamil Nadu. He died in New Delhi from a massive heart attack in age of 75 years.
Bhairon Singh Shekhawat
Mr. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was 12th Vice President of India from 19th August 2002 to 21st July 2007. He was also a Chief Minister of Rajasthan from 4 December 1993 – 29 November 1998. Mr. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was from Bharatiya Janata Party.

Currently Dr. Hamid Ansari is the Vice President of India. He was elected as Vice President of India On 11 August 2007. He was born in Calcutta West Bengal, India. He was a Professor and Vice-Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University. After the nomination for the Vice President post he resigned from NCM chairman post.
