Awarded by Sahitya Akademi, this award is considered the highest honor of the Government of India. The academy gives this award by choosing a writer as its fellow. The award is given for immortal literary works by authors in officially accepted languages (including English) out of 22 languages.
Sahitya Akademi was started by the Government of India on 12 March 1954. The academy functions as an autonomous institution. The Academy gives awards for literary works in 24 languages recognized by it every year. Currently, Kannada’s famous playwright, poet, novelist and Jnanpith awardee writer Chandrashekhar serves as the president of Kambar Sahitya Academy.

The Sahitya Akademi Award is the largest award in the field of literature in India. - Iqbal Samman
This honor is given to Madhya Pradesh for its significant contribution in the field of Urdu literature. Prize Announcement
The jury’s recommendation will be placed before the executive board for formal approval and announcement of the award. Along with the announcement of the award, the names of the members of the jury and the list of books selected in the final phase will also be announced.
