Eligibility Criteria:

For Secondary Course: Candidates who are going to fill NIOS Online Application, they must have Certificate of Class VIII passed, or Self Certificate (as mentioned at The back of Admission Form) attested by a Gazetted Officer.

For Senior Secondary Course: Copy of the Certificate of the Secondary Examination passed from a recognized Board of Secondary Education duly attested by a Gazetted Officer

Limitation of Age:

There is no particular age limit for NIOS admission. However, those candidates who are applying for the Secondary course, the minimum age for enrolment is 14 years and for the Senior Secondary course, candidates must be above from 15 years as on 30th June 2017.

Mode of Payment:

The submission of the application fees will be done through the medium of the On-line process by using credit card, master, visa, debit card. candidates can also submit the fee through offline mode through Bank Draft of any Nationalized Bank of India only in favor of Secretary, NIOS payable at respective Regional Centre.

Stream in NIOS Admission:

Stream 1: In this stream, new appliers may fill NIOS online Admission for Apr 2018 Examination according to the eligibility criteria.

Stream 2: Under this section, candidates, who want to fill e On-line admission form but could not clear or not declared qualified in the Public Examination of Secondary / Senior Secondary Levels, they can fill this application Form.

Stream 3: In this Stream, NIOS on Line form is available throughout the year. The admission under this stream is limited to the availability of seats in ODES at Secondary with an option of Examination Centre at NIOS Headquarter or at the Regional Centre.

Stream 4: In this stream the NIOS online form is available throughout the year. The admission under this stream is limited to the availability of seats in ODES at Sr. Secondary with an option of Examination Centre at NIOS Headquarter or at the Regional Centre.

Steps to apply for NIOS Admission 2018-19:

  • Candidates are required to apply online by visiting official site of National Institute of Open Schooling that is
  • Then, scroll down the homepage and hit to the “Admissions” Tab which is located at the left side of the homepage under “Information About”.
  • Select “Academic Course Prospectus 2017-18” link.
  • A PDF will be appearing having NIOS Notification; candidates need to read the instructions carefully.
  • After that, come back to the previous page and hit to the appropriate link.
  • If you are new user Press “Register now” option.
  • Fill online application form with all the details and note down email and password.
  • Then, login again and fill application form with all relevant information.
  • Upload scanned passport size photograph and signature (if required).
  • Take printout of filled in application form for future reference.
  • At last, send application form along with demand draft to the below mentioned address.

Documents Required for Submission of Print out of Online Application Form:

  • Attested copy of Birth Certificate issued by the Municipal authority or District Office of the Registrar of Birth and Deaths for all born on or after 26.01.1989 or
  • Transfer Certificate / School Leaving Certificates showing applicant’s date of birth, issued by the last school attended by the applicant. In case of Govt. Schools the transfer certificate/school leaving certificate should be signed by the Principal while in the case of Private schools it should also be countersigned by the competent education authority of State/or District Education Officer.
  • Certificate for SC/ST (in case of SC/ST),
  • Photocopy of Marksheet of Class X Board Examination (in case of Sr. Sec.),
  • Certificate from the Employer for Ex-Servicemen,
  • Certificate from a Government Hospital for a handicapped person
  • Original failure/compartment Marksheet of
  • class X or XII for TOC
  • Transfer Certificate from the last school attended or Self Certificate regarding educational qualifications (in case of Secondary)
