Classification of Public Holidays in India 2019:

  • India Public Holidays schedule is divided across three classifications: gazetted, restricted, as well as state and union territory
  • The three main holidays are Independence Day (the 15th of August), Republic Day (the 26th of January), and Mahatma Gandhi’s Birthday (the 2nd of October).
  • Festivals of Hindus such as Maha Shivratri, Makar Sankranti, Janmashtami, Saraswati Puja, Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi, Holi, Durga Puja, Dussehra
  • Festivals OF Sikhs such as Vaisakhi and Guru Nanak Jayanti;
