SSC has made some changes in SSC CHSL Selection Procedure!!! Mode of Selection of Job Postings will be done on the basis of their marks secured in Tier 1/2 Rounds. The detailed SSC CHSL Selection Procedure 2018 is discussed below.

As per the SSC CHSL Job Selection Process, applicants will have to clear five stages – applying for the exam, appearing in the Tier I, Tier II & Tier III and final allotment as per ranks and post preferences.

SSC CHSL Selection Process Details

Staff Selection Commission’s (SSC) conducted Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Exam for the posts of Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Postal Assistant (PA)/ Sorting Assistant (SA) and Data Entry Operator (DEO).

Stage#1: Applying for SSC CHSL 2018 exam

The first step of SSC CHSL Selection Process 2018 is to apply for SSC CHSL Exam through online mode. After applying, candidates will get shortlisted by the conducting authority based on academic records mentioned by them in their application forms.

Those candidates who submit their applications successfully will be allowed to appear for the next stage of SSC CHSL 2018 selection procedure i.e Tier 1 computer based test and issued their SSC CHSL admit card for same.

Stage#2: SSC CHSL 2018 Tier I exam

The second stage of selection process for SSC CHSL is a computer based test CBT or Tier 1 exam. All those candidates who register successfully for the exam will be allowed to appear for the exam.

The Tier I exam is an Objective Type test divided in four sections, General Intelligence, English Language (Basic Knowledge), Quantitative Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic Skill) and General Awareness.

Total marks for SS CHSL 2018 tier 1 exam are 200 and there is negative marking of 0.50 marks for every wrong answer. Candidates qualifying the Tier exam securing the qualifying marks will be selected for the Tier II exam.

Stage#3: SSC CHSL 2018 Tier II exam

Candidates who qualify the Tier 1 exam will be allowed to appear for Tier 2 descriptive paper. The Tier II exam is the second stage of SSC CHSL selection procedure and it will test the writing skills of the candidates which is necessary of Government Jobs.

The paper will comprise writing of an essay of 200-250 words and letter/application writing of approximately 150-200 words. Total marks for tier 2 exam is 100 and it will held offline i.e. pen and paper mode. Candidates will have to secure 33% as their minimum qualifying marks to qualify this stage of selection procedure of SSC CHSL.

Stage#4: SSC CHSL Tier III Examination

Candidates who apply for the post of Postal/Sorting Assistant and Data Entry Operator will have to appear for stage 4 of SSC CHSL 2018 selection procedure i.e. skill test/typing test.

This stage is qualifying in nature and marks secured by candidates will not consider while preparing the final merit list but performance as per the standards of typing/skill test is mandatory.

Stage#5: Final allotment under SSC CHSL 2018

The final merit of successful candidates will be determined on the basis of total score obtained by them in Tier I and Tier II exam. Candidates will be allotted to the various departments for the post of Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistants, Data Entry Operators, Lower Divisional Clerks and Court Clerks on the basis of their merit and preference of post.

Resolution of Ties

In case where more than one candidate secure the equal aggregates marks, tie will be resolved by applying the following methods one after another.

  • Marks in first part of the Written Examination.
  • Date of birth, with older candidates placed higher.
  • Alphabetical order in which first names of the candidates appear
