The National Tiger Conservation Authority was launched in 2005 following the recommendations of the Tiger Task Force. It was granted statutory status in 2006 by amendment of the wildlife protection amendment act 2016. The National Tiger Conservation Authority Environment Chairman is the Forest Minister of India.
