UGC NET New Exam Pattern
According to the new UGC NET Exam Pattern few points are need to be remember to all the aspirants who are going to appear in this year exam.
- Exam will be complete in the three phases.
- There will be only Objective Type Question in all the exam papers.
- There is no negative marking for the wrong answer.

For Person with Disability:
Candidates who are disabling will be provided 30 minutes extra time for Paper I and paper II.
Disable applicants will get 45 minutes compensatory time for paper IV.
Applicants, who are not in a position to write in their own hand-writing can also avail these services by making prior request (at least one week before the date of UGC-NET) in writing to the Coordinator of the NET Coordinating Institution.

- Shall be of general nature, planned to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate.
- It will primarily be planned to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.
- 60 multiple choice questions of two marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any 50.
- In the event of the candidate attempting more than 50 questions, the first 50 questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated.
- Shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the candidate.
- Each question will carry 2 marks.
- Will consist of 75 objective type compulsory questions from the subject selected by the candidate.
- Each question will carry 2 marks.
All questions of Paper-II and Paper-III will be compulsory, covering entire syllabus (including all electives, without options).

Passing marks for UGC NET Exam:

Contenders are required to obtain following minimum marks separately in Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III as given below:
Step I: Minimum marks to be obtained in NET for considering a contender for the award of JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor.
Step II: Amongst those candidates who have cleared step I, a merit list will be prepared subject-wise and category-wise using the aggregate marks of all the 3 papers secured by such candidates.
Step III: Top 15% candidates (for each subject and category), from the merit list mentioned under step II, will be declared NET qualified for eligibility for Assistant Professor only.
Step IV: A separate merit list for the award of JRF will be prepared from amongst the NET qualified candidates figuring in the merit list prepared under step III.

Cut Off Procedure for UGC NET Exam
Candidates who have cleared step I, a merit list will be prepared subject-wise and category-wise using the aggregate marks of all the three papers secured by such candidates
Top 15% candidates (for each subject and category), from the merit list mentioned under step II, will be declared NET qualified for eligibility for Assistant Professor only.
A separate merit list for the award of JRF will be prepared from amongst the NET qualified candidates figuring in the merit list prepared under step III.

Career Options after Qualifying UGC NET
Candidates who qualify in NET exam, they will eligible to apply for the post of Lecturer ship as when universities and colleges will be announced. Final selection of the applicants will be based on interview that will be conducted by the selection committee of the organization.
If any applicant has interest in research program can also purse Junior Research Fellowship from the Coordinating Institutes of NET. The selection procedure of students for award of JRF will depend on the student’s performance in Test.
