UNESCO was founded on November 4th, 1946. At the time of its foundation, it was specialized agency of UN. The first General Conference of UNESCO was taken place in Paris from 19th November to 10th December 1946. In its first conference, representative members from 30 countries were included.
After that UNESCO has made a growth and across the world and the member participating countries are also increased up to 195. From the foundation of UNESCO i.e. from 1946, 11 Director Generals were there in UNESCO. The current Director General of UNESCO is from France and the name is Audrey Azoulay. He is serving UNESCO from since 2007.
UNESCO’s final branch is Secretariat. The servants of this branch are based in Paris headquarters and also in other field offices. The work of Secretariat is to worldwide strengthen the presence of UNESCO.
