यूनिसेफ का फुल फॉर्म “संयुक्त राष्ट्र बाल कोष” है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाल आपातकालीन कोष की स्थापना संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा द्वारा दिसंबर 1946 में महीने के 11 वें दिन, द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध से तबाह हुए राष्ट्रों में बच्चों को आपातकालीन भोजन और औषधीय सेवाएं देने के लिए की गई थी। पोलिश डॉक्टर लुडविक राजचमैन को ज्यादातर यूनिसेफ के प्रवर्तक या संस्थापक के रूप में माना जाता है और वर्ष 1946 से इसके पहले प्रशासक के रूप में भरा गया है।

The aim to create UNICEF is to provide help to the children’s that are not having clean food, water and are facing deadly infections. In 1946, United Nations has established United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund for helping children’s of post-World War II Europe. It provides food, clothing and health related aids to children. In 1953, UNICEF becomes the permanent part of UN and its name was also shortened to United Nations Children’s Fund.
In 1950, the activities of UNICEF expanded to children’s rights of education and in 1965; UNICEF won the Nobel Peace Prize. UNICEF can’t stopped there, in 1980, it also launched a programme named ‘Women in Development Programme’ for women’s that are facing struggle in life, especially mothers.
In 1979, UNICEF was also awardee with Indira Gandhi Peace Prize. UNICEFs offices are located in 120 cities and its supply division is in Copenhagen, Denmark.
