1) National Flag: Tiranga
The National Flag of India is designed by Pingali Venkayya. It was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 22nd July 1947. The flag represents three colour:
- The top saffron colour: represents strength and courage of the country.
- The white middle band: represents peace and truth with Dharma Chakra.
- The green colour: represents the fertility, growth and auspiciousness of the land.
2) National Emblem: State Emblem of India
The National Emblem is adopted from Lion Capital of Ashoka at Sarnath. The emblem represents four lions which are facing at four different directions i.e. north, east, south, and west. The motto of our National Emblem is Satyameva Jayate.
3) National Anthem: Jana Gana Mana
The National Anthem of India is Jana Gana Mana which was composed by Rabindranath Tagore in Bengali. After that its hindi version is adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 24 January 1950.
4) National Song: Vande Matram
This song is composed by Bankimchandra Chatterji in Sanskrit and after that on January 24, 1950, it was officially announced by the Constituent Assembly that the song “Vande Mataram” will be equally honoured with Jana Gana Mana.
5) National Currency: Indian Rupee
Indian rupee is considered as the official currency of India and is controlled by the Reserve Bank of India. The symbol of Indian Rupee was adopted in 2010 and is derived from Devanagari consonant “र” (ra) and the Latin letter “R”.

6) National Animal: Bengal Tiger
The Bengal Tiger which is our National Animal of India got ranked amongst the biggest cats in the world. Due to its growth in less number, it was adopted as the National Animal in April 1973.
7) National Bird: Peacock
On February 1, 1963, the Government of India announces Peacock as the National Bird of India. A peacock is brightly coloured having blue feathers and lives mainly on the ground in open forest or on land.
8) National Aquatic Animal: Dolphin
River Dolphin is announced as the National Aquatic Animal of India. Dolphins are considered as the oldest creature of world that shares their habitat with crocodiles, turtles and wetland birds.
9) National Fruit: Mango
Mango is also called as King of Fruits and is considered as the National Fruit of India. It is one of the most cultivated fruits and indicates prosperity, abundance and richness in terms of National Fruit.
10) National Flower: Lotus
Lotus is one of the most widely flowers that is available in India as it grows in ponds, lakes and even at homes. It is also considered as a part of Hindu rituals and ceremonies. It symbolizes spirituality, wealth, knowledge, purity of heart and mind.

11) National Tree: Banyan Tree
Banyan tree also known as Indian fig tree is the National Tree of India. The roots of this tree gave rise to more branches and trunks and that’s why this tree shows character of longevity and has various medicinal properties. The tree also often used to be called as Kalpa Vriksha’ or the ‘Tree of Wish Fullfillment’.
12) National River: Ganga
The River Ganga is originated from Gangotri Glacier in the Himalayas and is also considered as the longest river in India. It is considered as the most religious river on the earth. Varanasi, Allahabad and Haridwar are some of the major cities that pass through this river.
13) National Reptile: King Cobra
King Cobra or Snake eater is found in the forests of India. In Hinduism, it is called as “Nagas” and is worshipped because Lord Shiva is depicted with a cobra coiled around his neck. It has the ability to grow up to 19 ft and can live up to 25 years.
14) National Heritage Animal: Indian Elephant
Since elephants are part our heritages from a very long time, so the Government of India has declared Elephant as the National Heritage Animal of India. Also in order to conserve the species, this step has been taken up.

15) Oath of Allegiance: National Pledge
The National Pledge is mainly recites by Indians in schools at the time of Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations. Many schools recite this pledge in their morning assembly. The Pledge was composed by Pydimarri Venkata Subba Rao in 1962 in Telugu language and was further translated into many regional languages.
