SDO Meaning:
Sub Divisional Officer is the post under government sector. Almost every department such as Police, Electricity, and Irrigation Department etc has appointed an SDO. - The age required to become an SDO Officer is to between 21 and 30 years. Also, SC/ST candidates will get 5 years age relaxation while OBC category candidates will get 3 years as age relaxation.

How To Become SDO?
As Sub Divisional Officer is appointed by the State Government, so its selection is also done by the government of each state. Through Public Service Commission (PSC) Examination, this selection process is carried out. Every year, Public Service Commission conducts examination for SDO by inviting an application form. Interested candidates then fill up the form and appear for the examination on scheduled dates.
Stages of Exam:
SDO Exam is carried out in two stages:
1) Preliminary Exam
2) Mains Exam
The details of these exams are as:
1) Preliminary Examination: In this examination, optional type questions are asked. The subjects included are as general knowledge, mathematics, reasoning, etc If the candidate appeared under preliminary exam is passed, then only he/she is eligible to appear for the mains examination.
2) Mains Examination: After clearing the prelims exam, second phase is carried out i.e. mains exam. This examination is little difficult than the prelims exam. After passing this examination, candidates will be called for interview round. The final selection will be done on the basis of performance of candidate in the interview round.

Working of SDO:
The work of SDO is to keep a check on the development work of the area in which they are appointed along with tehsildars and other appointed officers. They also work on public complains. Just as DM of any area is doing work, SDO work is much similar to that.
SDO Salary:
The entry level monthly salary of an SDO Officer is Rs. 23, 640/-. After adding the allowances, perks and grades, the salary package is Rs. 51, 378/- per month. However, the salary of an SDO may also differs state wise i.e. the difference varies from one state to another.
