For Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions, Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) has released the TNEA Random Number 2021 to ensure transparency in Anna University admission process. Tamil Nadu Engineering Random number is a 10 digit number and is assigned randomly and is also used for breaking tie when other methods are not sufficed.
The Directorate of Technical Education has started to assign randomly allocated 10 digit unique numbers to candidates with the purpose to break ties, since 2019. - The candidate with higher percentage in Mathematics is given higher rank in a case of tie.
- If the tie still persists, the students with higher percentage of marks in Physics will get higher rank.
- If this still doesn’t work, then the candidate with higher percentage marks in the optional (fourth) subject will be given a higher rank.
- The date of birth of candidates will be considered if the tie anyhow persists, so that the candidate older in age is ranked higher.
- The authorities shall use TNEA Random Number 2021 if the tie still persists to break the tie.
