NDA Exam Pattern

The exam will be conducted on 4th September 2022 for second session. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is the authority which organizes NDA (National Defense Academy) national level entrance exam every year.

By qualifying this examination, various candidates become eligible for selection into training academies of Indian Navy, Indian Military and Air Force. Candidates have to qualify the entrance test followed by SSB interview rounds & medical tests in order to be eligible for entry into NDA.

NDA Exam Pattern 2023:

  • Mode of Exam: The exam will be conducted in offline mode (pen paper mode).
  • Duration of Exam: The two and half hour will be provided for each paper.
  • Language of Exam: The question paper will be set bilingually in Hindi as well as in English.
  • Type of Questions: The question paper will be of Objective Type.
  • Maximum Questions: The questions paper will be of total 900 marks.
  • Negative Marking: There will be negative marking for wrong answer.

NDA Exam Pattern 2023 

For Mathematics and General Ability Test

NDA 2 2023 exam will be conducted in offline mode and all the questions are of MCQ type. The exam is held in both English as well as Hindi languages. Candidates are asked to attempt two sections- Mathematics and General Ability Test. Other details related to NDA Exam Pattern from both the sections have been tabulated below.

NDA 2023 Marking Scheme

NDA consists of two sections- Mathematics and General ability test. Aspirants can check previous years’ NDA written exam cutoffs.

  • In the Mathematics section, there will be a total of 120 questions of 300 marks.
  • All questions carry 2.5 marks each.
  • 83 Marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • The general ability test will comprise 600 marks; 200 marks are allotted to English and 400 marks in total are allotted to General Knowledge.
  • In this section, there will be a total of 150 questions, 50 from English and 100 from General Knowledge.
  • +4 marks for each correct answer in this section.
  • – 1.33 Marks for each wrong answer.
  • There will be no mark for unanswered questions.

Type of Questions in NDA 2023 Exam:

NDA will have questions from two sections mainly- Mathematics and General Ability sections. The questions will mainly be asked of 10+2 level.

  • In mathematics, candidates must thoroughly prepare- Arithmetic, Mensuration, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, etc.
  • For the general ability section, prepare well for both the sub-sections, i.e., English and General Knowledge.
  • For the English section, focus on grammar, comprehension, and reading abilities.
  • General knowledge questions can be asked from current events, physics, chemistry, general science, history, etc.

Personality Test/Interview:

According to NDA 2 Exam Pattern, Candidates who qualify written test then will be called for personality test followed by intelligence and physical test. NDA NA Exam Pattern for interview process will be determined by Service Selection Board (SSB).

It includes two stages for selection that is Stage I and Stage II. Stage I consist of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Observation Description Test (PP&DT). Stage II consists of Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference. These tests last for four days.

National Defence Academy Exam:

NDA is an entrance exam conducted at national level to recruit candidates in defence services such as Army, Navy and Air Force. Eligible candidates satisfying the required criteria shall apply for NDA Exam.

  1. Hello, Tell me if a student as not appeared for NA-1 exam so can he apply for NA-2 exam directly or is it compulsory to first appear for NA-1 exam then only student is able to appear for NA-2 exam.
