Check NMMS Scholarship 2022-23 Dates!!! Government of India launches various kinds of scholarship schemes to promote education and reduce dropout rates. By this, students who belong to the financially weaker section of society would be able to continue with their education.
For this purpose, The Department of School Education & Literacy under the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD), sponsors the NMMS Scholarship 2022 to help students financially who belongs to economically weaker section. National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme is for students of Class 9th to 12th. Students who wish to apply for the scholarship exam can check the eligibility and fill NMMS Application Form before last date.

NMMS Scholarship 2022-23
Number of NMMS Scholarships:
100,000 National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship will be given to the selected meritorious students of the country.
NMMS Scholarship Eligibility:
Students whose parental income from all sources is not more than Rs. 1,50,000/- are eligible to avail the NMMS Scholarship against the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme.
The students studying in “Kendriya Vidalayas and “Jawahar Vavodaya Vidlayas” are not entitled to get National Merit Scholarship as mentioned in this scheme notification.

Those students who are enrolled in NVS, KVS, Sainik School and private school cannot apply for this scholarship Those students studying in schools run by State Government with facilities like boarding, lodging etc cannot apply for this scholarship
Eligibility criteria for renewal/continuation of NMMS scholarship
To renew the NMMS scholarship in Class 10 and 12, students should have passed class 9 or Class 11 in the first attempt with 55% of marks (relaxation of 5% for reserved category). To continue with the scholarship at higher secondary stage, students must score at least 60% marks in Class 10 examination

NMMS Scholarship Amount:
The amount of NMMS Scholarship 2022 is proposed to be Rs.6000/- per annum @ Rs. 500/- per month. NMMS Scholarship amount is paid by the State bank of India (SBI) in one go. The amount is directly transferred into the students’ accounts through Public Financial Management System (PFMS). The number of scholarships allocated to each State and UT is done on the basis of students’ enrolment in classes 7 and 8 and their population in the respective states.
Selection Process for NMMS Scholarship:
The authorities will select candidates on the basis of National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Examination that are well mentioned below:
- Mental Ability Test (MAT)
- Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
Mental ability test (MAT)
Through this test, the reasoning abilities and critical thinking of the candidate are examined this test consists of 90 multiple choice questions are based on topics like analog, hidden figure, pattern, perception, numerical series, classification, etc

This test is based on the syllabus of class 7th and 8thThis test cover subject like science, social studies, mathematics there are 90 multiple choice questions in this test
Each State/UT will conduct their own test for selection of students but it is mandatory for students to pass both the tests i.e. MAT and SAT with at least 40% marks in each. For the reserved category, this cut off will be 32% marks.
Note: A student can avail only one Scholarship under any scheme. National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Result and National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Admit Card Updates will be intimated later by the organization.

How to apply for NMMS Scholarship 2022-23?
- Candidates need to visit the official website of Ministry Of Electronics & Information Technology i.e. scholarships.gov.in for NMMS Scholarship Apply Online.
- After reaching the NMMS Scholarship Portal, candidates go through the “Central Scheme>>Department of School Education & Literacy” link.
- Afterwards, hit the “Guidelines” link and read all the details regarding the NMMS scholarship.
- After ensuring their eligibility criteria, you need to select “Apply” tab.
- Once you hit a new page will come out along with the NMMS Login Portal.
If you’re New Candidates:
- Hit the “New User? Register” tab from top menu bar.
- Fill NMMS Online Registration Form with all personal details.
- After that, login credential will be sent successfully to you.
If you’re Existing Candidates:
- After successful registration, hit “Login To Apply” tab.
- Fill up the NMMS Scholarship Application form carefully and complete all the details
- After completing the details hit on the final submission tab

NMMS Scholarship FAQ’s
Q1. Is the scheme open for all candidates enrolled in Indian Universities/ Colleges/ Institutes?
Ans. No. Only those candidates who have domicile of the North- Eastern states of India are covered under the schemes i.e.Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland , Sikkim and Tripura.
Q2. Is there any annual income ceiling for candidates to be included under the scheme?
Yes, only those candidates whose annual family income is less than or equal to Rs.4.5 lakh per annum are covered under ambit of the scheme.
Q3. Is there any need for uploading of domicile certificate alongwith the online application form?
Yes, the domicile certificate/ permanent resident certificate issued by the competent authority will have to be uploaded with the online application form.
Q4. Are only first year undergraduate students eligible to apply?
Yes, only those students who have passed Class XII(CBSE board) or equivalent Examination of State Boards for the current year are eligible to apply.
Q5. Are students enrolled in dual degree courses eligible to apply?
Yes. However, the awardees will be eligible to draw scholarship only till the tenure of the first degree programme

NMMS Selection Process Details:
Aspirants need to clear the MAT & SAT Exam to avail the scholarship. Candidates who score more than the cut off marks will be awarded with the scholarship. Candidates have to score more than 40% marks in both MAT & SAT Exam (For reserved Category, cut off is 32%).
