STS Scholarship
Nationality Required for STS Scholarship:
Indian National students studying in recognised medical/dental colleges of India can apply for STS. Students who are holding OCI cards/ PIO cards/ NRI’s studying in Indian medical/dental College can also apply. Students from foreign medical/dental colleges are not eligible for this program.

STS Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:
The STS Scholarship is awarded to only MBBS/ BDS graduates. The other eligibility criteria to be met for applying for the STS scholarship are listed below:
- Only MBBS/ BDS students of Medical/ Dental colleges recognized by the MCI/ DCI are eligible to apply before appearing for their final exams.
- Interns/ PG students are not eligible to apply.
- All the candidates having OCI cards/ PIO cards/ NRI’s studying in an Indian Medical/ Dental college are eligible to apply provided they submit a copy of the OPI/ PIO/ NRI card along with the application.
- Paramedical/ Non-medical students cannot apply for the program.
- Indian students studying in recognized Medical/ Dental colleges can apply.
- Candidates studying in Foreign Medical/ Dental colleges cannot apply.
Note:
- The candidate should do the research in his/ her own college under a guide who is employed as a full-time faculty in the same college. Part-time faculty/ Visiting faculty/ PG students or Residents cannot be the guide for the candidates.
- Only one student should be working under one guide.
- Two or more students should not work on the same topic as research. Different students submitting the same research topic are rejected.
- One student should have only one guide and other co-guides. However, ICMR considers only the Main Guide for all purposes.
STS Scholarship Amount:
The STS Scholarship Reward of INR 10,000 per month is paid for 2 months (total INR 20,000) and is meant to be a stipend for the student. This is paid only after completion of research and approval of final report. Costs of research must be borne by Institution/ Medical/Dental College where the research is conducted.
A certificate will be issued and posted to the Principal’s/College office after 6-8 months of Report results are announced in Jan 2023. The Certificate will be issued only to the Student whose report will get selected. However the Guide can keep a xerox/scan copy of the same.

STS Scholarship Selection Process:
The selection of the candidates for award of research studentship will be done after technical evaluation of the research plan by a panel of experts. The decision of ICMR in regard to selection of students will be final. Requests for reconsideration will not be entertained and reasons for rejection of applications for award of studentship will not be provided.
How to Apply For STS Scholarship Application Form
Step 1- Registration Process for STS Scholarship Apply Online:
- First of all, Candidates need to visit ICMR official website that is www.icmr.nic.in with a valid email ID, phone number, course details like student name, course, college name and address, and personal details like date of birth and residential address.
- The applicant should write his/ her name in the ‘Sentence case’. ‘
- If applicants will get selected, the student will get appropriate amount and a certificate to his/ her name.
- Applicants should mention complete postal address of the college along with the phone number and email ID in the application form for further communication.
- After successful registration, a registration ID and password will be generated automatically.
Step 2- Application Form Submission:
- Candidates need to submit fully filled Application form and Research proposal online on the ICMR official website.
- The Application Attestation Form (AAF) should be completely filled, signed, attested, scanned, and saved as a PDF document.
- One applicant can only submit one application form/ research proposal on any topic. If multiple proposals are submitted, then all proposals by the student get rejected.

Ques: Do I need to submit original bills/ receipts of my expenses?
Ans: No these are not required.
Ques: Where should I publish my STS Awarded research work?
Ans: The Research article should be published in good journal indexed in MEDLINE or SCI/SCIE only, if you want to apply for ICMR-CNMC STS Excellence Award.
Ques: I have attached the documents online; do I have to send the hard copy as well?
Ans: No, since STS is an online paperless program, there is no need to submit hard copies of the documents.
Ques: What should be the name of the files which I want to upload?
Ans: There is no specific requirement; you are free to choose any file name.
