- Geologist Group A – Passed / Appearing Master Degree Geological Science or Geology / Applied Geology /Geo-Exploration /Mineral Exploration /Engineering Geology / Marine Geology /Earth Science and Resource Management/ Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies/ Petroleum Geosciences/ Petroleum Exploration/ Geochemistry/ Geological Technology/ Geophysical Technology or Any Other Equivalent Degree in Any Recognized University in India.
- Geophysicist Group A – Passed / Appearing Master Degree in Science in Following Stream Physics / Applied Physics /Applied Geophysics/ Geophysics / Marine Geophysics / Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) or Any Other Equivalent Degree in Any Recognized University in India.
- Chemist Group A – Master Degree in Science M.Sc Chemistry / Applied Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry Passed / Appearing in Any Recognized University in India.

- Stage 1: Preliminary Examination – Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) having two papers for selection of the candidates for the Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination. Marks secured in the Preliminary Examination will be counted for deciding the final merit. Candidates should note that there will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers
- Stage 2: Mains Examination – Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination (Descriptive Type) having three papers for selection of candidates for the Personality Test . Marks secured in the Main Examination will be counted for deciding the final merit, and.
