Border Security Force is divided into three categories:

1. Grade Pay
2. Pay Band
3. Basic Pay

Pay Band:

The meaning of Pay band is the range of Scale for a particular post. You basic Pay (BP) is decided under 18 levels of Pay Scales. After joining BSF, your salary starts from the lowest and move to the next in the following year. The increment rate of BP is around 3% per annum.

Basic Pay:

The basic amount of salary is the amount paid to employees before any reductions or increases due to overtime or bonus, allowances. Those employees is recruited on a pay scale, their basic BSF salary may increase, every year.

Else, it remains fixed. According to this, we can say that basic pay is the sum of the grade pay and the pay in the pay band.

Grade Pay:

We can clarify grade pay as the amount which the government employees receive apart from the basic pay. It depends on the category/ class of employee. Basic pay and grade pay are used to calculate dearness allowance and other allowances.
