Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana in Hindi:
बेटी बचाओ बेटी पढ़ाओ योजना का शुभारम्भ केंद्र की वर्तमान सरकार द्वारा लिंग के अनुपात में समानता लाने की दिशा में उठाया गया एक सराहनीय कदम है। भारत में 2001 की जनगणना में 0-6 वर्ष के बच्चों का लिंग अनुपात का आंकड़ा 1000 लड़कों के अनुपात में लड़कियों की संख्या 927 थी। जो कि 2010 की जनगणना में घटकर 1000 लड़कों के अनुपात में 918 लड़कियां हो गई ।
अत: इस गंभीर समस्या पर काबू पाने के लिए प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने 22 जनवरी 2015 को बेटी बचाओ बेटी पढ़ाओ योजना को हरियाणा के पानीपत जिले में लागू करने की घोषणा की! देश में लिंग अनुपात में समानता लाने के लिए तथा बेटियों कि सुरक्षा और कन्या भ्रूण हत्या को रोकने के उद्देश्य से इस योजना को लागू किया गया है।

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana Scheme
1.) Highest Interest Rate among all Small Savings Schemes offered by GOI:
Sukanya Samriddhi Account will offer an interest rate of 9.1% and it is highest among all Small Savings Schemes. The Interest Rate applicable for the Financial Year will be declared every year by the Govt of India. Interest will be compounded yearly i.e. will be credited on a yearly basis. It will be accrued on a monthly basis on the lowest balance between 5th and last day of the month.
2.) Tax Savings:
Here yet another benefit of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana is that it will encourage people to open a Sukanya Samriddhi Account as Govt has exempted contribution to this account u/s 80C of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
3.) Lock-in Period:
Lock-in Period maturity time will be 21 years from the date of opening of the account or Marriage of the Girl Child, Whichever is earlier. For marriage, girl should be of 18 years at the time of marriage. The operation of account is not permitted beyond the date of marriage.
If funds are required for higher education, then only one premature withdrawal is allowed on girl attaining the age of 18 years. Untimely withdrawal is restricted to 50% of the balance at the end of preceding financial year.
4.) Purpose of Sukanya Samriddhi Account:
As only objective of Sukanya Samriddhi account launching is financial planning for the marriage of Girl Child. Socially it is conveying that marriage or education of a girl child is not a financial burden if parents plan well in advance.
So, parents cannot withdraw the money for any other purpose except marriage or for higher education of Girl Child with the inclusion of lock-in period.

5.) Maturity Proceeds to be paid to Girl Child:
As the maturity period of Sukanya Samriddhi Account will end the account balance along with accrued interest will be paid directly to the account holder i.e. Girl Child. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana provides financial assistance to girl child which is currently lacking in India.
6.) Interest to be paid even after Maturity:
An exclusive trait of SukanyaSamriddhi Account is that even after maturity if the account is not closed by the account holder, Interest shall be payable in the account till final closure of the account.
7.) Parameters for felicitation of Schools/ Girls for Promoting Girl’s Education:
Under “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana”, Rs. 5 lakh per district will be given for promoting girl’s education. To enable the district for optimal impact under Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana, the following parameters are proposed:-
- Sanction of additional school grants amounting to Rs. 10,000/- to each primary school from class V to VI.
- Sanctions of additional school grant amounting to Rs. 15,000/- to each upper primary school from class VIII to IX.
- Sanction of additional school grant amounting to Rs. 20,000/- to each secondary school from class X to XI
- Felicitation at district level with a prize of Rs. 20,000/- to the girl topper of class XII state board exam.
