SSB stands for Service Selection Board. It has been established by the Ministry of Defense of India to conduct interviews for the recruitment of officers in the Indian Armed Forces. It is designed to test “officer like qualities” in candidates. The key traits of the candidates evaluated in SSB interview are personality, intelligence, compatibility and ability.
The interview places more emphasis on mental fitness than physical fitness but a certain level of physical fitness is required to clarify the interview. So, if you want to become an officer in army, navy or air force, then you have to appear for SSB interview after passing written test.

एसएसबी को हिंदी में “सेवा चयन बोर्ड” कहा जाता है. भारतीय सशस्त्र बलों (यानी सेना, वायु सेना और नौसेना) में अधिकारियों की भर्ती के लिए साक्षात्कार आयोजित करने के लिए भारत के रक्षा मंत्रालय द्वारा एसएसबी की स्थापना की जाती है। यह भारतीय सशस्त्र बलों में अधिकारी बनने के लिए उम्मीदवारों में “गुणों की तरह अधिकारी” का परीक्षण करने के लिए डिज़ाइन किया गया है।
मूल्यांकन प्रणाली के एक मानकीकृत प्रोटोकॉल का उपयोग करके जिसमें व्यक्तित्व, बुद्धिमत्ता, अनुकूलता और क्षमता शामिल है (जिसे प्रमुख लक्षण भी कहा जा सकता है), बोर्ड एक अधिकारी बनने के लिए उम्मीदवार की उपयुक्तता का मूल्यांकन करता है। एसएसबी साक्षात्कार एक उम्मीदवार की शारीरिक फिटनेस की तुलना में मानसिक फिटनेस पर अधिक जोर देता है लेकिन साक्षात्कार को खाली करने के लिए एक निश्चित स्तर की शारीरिक फिटनेस भी आवश्यक है।

What is SSB – Meaning in English?
SSB is such a selection board that inspects the candidates coming to the Indian Army recruitment in many ways. SSB, through interview, checks what are the qualities of the candidate and whether he/she is eligible for the given post. SSB measures a candidate’s mental intelligence more than their physical ability. However, it is necessary for you to be physically strong for appointment in the army forces. SSB Duration And Procedure
The SSB interview is a five-day personality and intelligence test. It includes various tests that are conducted on different days. After clearing this interview, you will have to appear for the medical examination. The schedule of tests is as follows:
Day 1: Basic Intelligence Test / Screening Test
Day 2: Psychology Test
Days 3 & 4: Group Testing Officer (GTO) Work
Day 5: Conference
SSB Interview Procedure
The SSB Interview Procedure contains 2 stage selection process Stage I & Stage II. Candidates, those qualify the Stage I, solely they’re permitted to appear for Stage II. The whole procedure is given below:
Stage 1: This stage consists of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Tests and Picture Perception & Description Test (PP & DT). Stage one could be a Screening Test. Candidates are shortlisted on the premise of combined performance in the OIR Test and PP & DT.
Stage 2: This stage is held for days. Stage II consists of Psychology Tests, Group Testing Officer Tasks (GTO Tasks), Interview & Conference.
