Nationality Criteria:

Here we have provided the nationality criteria, so,you need to meet with one of the following criteria:

  • A resident of India,
  • A subject of Bhutan/Nepal,
  • Tibetan refugees came in India earlier than 1 January 1962 for settling here permanently;
  • PIO category candidates who have migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam.
  • Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

What will be the upper and lower age limit?

  • Age of aspirants must not be less than 21 years and should not be more than 32 years (e. he must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1985 and not later than 1st August, 1996)
  • Relaxation in age will be provided to reserved category candidates as given below.

Required Qualification:

  • Candidates should be graduated with one the following subjects namely Botany, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, Geology, Physics, Zoology and Statistics. Or,
  • Candidates should hold graduation degree in Forestry, Agriculture or Engineering obtained from a recognized state or central university.
  • Candidates must have any other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

Number of Attempts:

  • Every candidate appearing at the Examination, who is otherwise eligible, will be permitted six attempts at the examination.
  • This restriction on the number of attempts will not apply in the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates who are otherwise eligible.
  • A physically handicapped candidate belonging to the General Category will be eligible for nine attempts.
  • The relaxation will be available to the physically handicapped candidates who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.

IFS Exam Fee:

  • Candidates applying (excepting Female/SC/ST/PH candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) for Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination are required to pay a fee of Rs.100/-
  • Applicants can pay examination fee either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/State Bank of Hyderabad/ State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/ State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/ Master Credit /Debit card.

How To Pay Fees Online Through Credit/Debit Card

Mode of Selection:

  • Willing candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in Preliminary written exam (Objective type) and Mains written exam.
  • After qualifying both examinations, candidates will be shortlisted for interview and selection of the shortlisted candidates will be made on their performance in interview.

Pattern for IFS Preliminary Exam pattern:

  • Preliminary exam will have two papers which contains 200 marks for each.
  • All questions are of objective type
  • Mode of Language: English and Hindi
  • Exam duration: 2 hours
  • Negative Marking: 1/3 marks gets deducted for every incorrect response.

There will be six papers and all paper is required to be answered in English only.
