IBPS की फुल फॉर्म Institute Of Banking Personnel Selection होती है. इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ बैंकिंग पर्सनेल सेलेक्शन (IBPS) एक स्वायत्त भर्ती निकाय है, जो भारत में सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों (Public Sector Banks) में युवा स्नातकों की भर्ती और नियुक्ति को बढ़ावा देने के लिए भारत सरकार द्वारा स्थापित किया गया है।
इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ बैंकिंग पर्सनल सेलेक्शन (IBPS) को सोसायटी रजिस्ट्रेशन एक्ट, 1860 के तहत रजिस्टर्ड किया गया था और बॉम्बे पब्लिक ट्रस्ट एक्ट, 1950 के तहत पब्लिक ट्रस्ट के रूप में भी रजिस्टर्ड किया गया.

Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criterion for the IBPS CWE PO exam is a graduation degree in any of the streams such as BA, B.Com, BSc, etc., from a recognized university. The percentage of marks obtained in Graduation should be mentioned at the time of registration for the IBPS Bank-PO examination.
Candidates must be between 20 to 30 years. Age relaxation of five, three and ten years is given to SC/ ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), and PwD candidates, respectively.

Brief History
- It started its operation as Personnel Selection Services (PSS) in 1975.
- In 1984, with the permission of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and public sector banks, it became an independent body.
- In 2011, it started conducting Common Written Examination (CWE) to recruit candidates in public sector banks.
- Today CWE of IBPS is mandatory to get employment in the public sector or regional rural banks.
