ICAR Milestones:
- ICAR started its first All India Coordinated Research Project on Maize in the year 1957.
- In the year 1958, ICAR gave the status of Deemed University to DARI.
- In the year 1966, various agricultural institutions were established under the purview of ICAR in 1966.
- ICAR established the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) in the year 1973.
- The first Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) was opened in Puducherry in the year 1974.
- ICAR was awarded the King Baudouin Award in 1989 for its significant contribution to the Green Revolution.
- In 2004, it was again awarded the King Baudin Prize for Research and Development by ICAR.
- In the year 1998, National Agricultural Technology Project (NATP) was launched.
- In 2005, the National Agricultural Innovation Project (NAIP) was launched.
- 2006: ICAR developed a vaccine against bird flu.
- 2019: ICAR has also published an Integrated Mobile App called KISAAN (Krishi Integrated Solution for Agri Apps Navigation) for Farmers of country Mobile App has interface in 12 Indian Languages.

About ICAR:
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is an autonomous organisation under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare , Government of India. Formerly known as Imperial Council of Agricultural Research, it was established on 16 July 1929 as a registered society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 in pursuance of the report of the Royal Commission on Agriculture. The ICAR has its headquarters at New Delhi.
