GATE Eligibility Criteria
Nationality / Citizenship:
The student must be either:
- A Citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan or
- A Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India

Number of Attempts:
There is no limit on number of attempts to appear in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering Exam. Aspirants can take this test as many times as they want but one should try to clear it in first or second attempt.

- A New Section has been introduced in the Engineering Sciences (XE) Paper on Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (section H). XE Paper will now have total number of eight sections from A to H.
- International students will now be able to apply for GATE 2019. Students from Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia and United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) will be allowed to appear for GATE 2019 Exam.
