Unit VClassical and non-classical carbocations carbanions, radical- anions, radical-cations, carbenes, arynes and nitrenes. General methods of generation, detection and reactivity of these intermediates, singlet oxygen, its generation and reaction.
Unit VIDetermination of reaction mechanism, kinetically and thermodynamicaly controlled reaction. Energy profile diagrams, detection of reaction intermediates, isotope effects and kinetic effects. Hard and soft acids and bases.
Unit VIIMechanism of SN1 and SN2 SNi reactions -Factors influencing SN1 and SN2 reactions, reactivity and orientation effects, Effect of substrate, structure, attacking nucleophile, leaving group and reaction medium, phase transfer catalysis and, ambidentnucleophiles regioselectivity.
