CAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria

CAT QualificationAppliers must have Bachelor’s Degree in any stream from any recognized College or University. Applicants appearing in the final year of qualifying exam or who have completed the degree requirements and waiting for the result are also eligible to apply for IIM Cat 2018.
Percentage CriteriaIn the qualifying exam, contenders should have secured minimum 50% marks for general and 45% marks in case of SC, ST and PwD candidates.
Other QualificationCA/CS/ICWA Professional Degree Holders are also eligible to apply for CAT Notification 2018.

Age limit for IIM CAT:

  • The age of contenders must not be less than 20 years
  • Any candidate can appear in the CAT exam unlimited times, he can apply maximum times for CAT.
  • There is no upper limit in the age of the candidate.

Scheduled Castes (SC)15% Seats
Scheduled Tribes (ST)7.5% Seats
Other Backward Classes (OBC)27% Seats

CAT Exam Pattern:

After meeting eligibility criteria, candidates are advised to check CAT Exam Pattern before giving exam.   • Type: Computer based test (CBT)
  • Duration: The duration of CAT 2018 exam will be of 180 minutes
  • of Questions: 100 Objective type questions
  • Syllabus Covered:  logical reasoning & data interpretation, verbal ability & Reading Comprehension and quantitative ability
  • Marking Scheme: 3 marks for every correct answer
  • Negative Marking: 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer
  • Time Limit per Section: Candidates will be allotted exactly 60 minutes for answering questions in each section
