Coalgate : Coal Block Scam 2012

Corruption and Scams are increasing day by day. 2012 can be termed as the “Year of Scams”. As 2G spectrum scam, Uttar Pradesh NRHM scam, and many more scams has injured our economical growth and recently a bigger Coal Scam, which is called the mother of all scams by media, has become nagging problem. Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India issued a report about a big coal block scam and according to this report the Government Of India is found accused for the coal scam. And the result of this big scam that our country lost Rs. 1.86 lakh crore. CBI has given clean chit to our government and now investigating against that private companies which found involved in the “Coalgate”, the other famous name for this scam. CAG also notify to the parliament that at initial stage some important drafts and details were leaked.

Actually the purpose of involving private companies (producing iron, steel, washing of coals) is to encourage them for investment in coal mining. But coal blocks were allotted to the companies without any auction which lead to huge loss that can be avoided, as said by the opposition party.

Due to this scam parliament can’t work properly. In this monsoon session there were some important bills to be cleared by the parliament. But opposition parties disturbed the parliament and continued demanding for the Resignation of Prime Minister as PMO have an important role in Coalgate. All political parties are accusing each other for making nuisance during this monsoon session. All parties are showing the profit of other parties in doing so. It may be a profitable thing for any party, but it’s a loss for the country.

If CAG has not issued any information about this scam then nobody might have know about this scam. But government is saying that the calculations done by CAG are just based on approximations and false assumptions.

Now effect of this scam can be seen on the public of our country. This loss in the revenue earned might have been used for the people of India. Lots of projects are pending due to lack of money. Definitely this amount of 1.86 lakh crore would have been helpful for the growth of our country. This is the time to strictly follow the rules and regulations by every politician.
