At present direct recruitment of Class-I & Class-II posts of different departments is done by Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission.

Selection Procedure in HPPSC

Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission follows the pattern with three parts of examination to be given by candidate and the candidate should get shortlisted in all three of them to get selected for recruitment procedure. The three parts of examinations consists are Pre or Preliminary examination, Main examination and Interview. In pre or preliminary exam, objective type of questions are asked based on general awareness and knowledge of current affairs and the state and the country.The main exam consist of eight papers, out of which, a candidate can select four of them by choice, the other four consist of essay, english, hindi and GK. The final stage is personal interview.
