Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released IAS Exam Pattern for Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Exam. Aspirants who are going to appear for IAS exam are on the correct place, as they must check the concerned IAS Exam Pattern 2017 from here. Aspirants are required to undergo three successive stages to qualify this competitive exam that are first is Preliminary Examination-Objective Type (Qualifier) then Main Examination-Written Test and after that Interview / Personality Test.

About the Indian Administrative Service Exam:

The Prelims are held in August and the results are announced in Oct-November. The Main examination will held around December and the candidates who qualify at this stage will be interviewed in March-April / May next year. The final recruitment and posting of candidates depends on their ranking and the available vacancies for different posts to be filled during that particular year.

All such candidates who qualify to appear for the Civil Services Main Examination must produce proof of having passed the prelims examination along with their application for the Main Examination.

Services (Preliminary) Examination:

This examination consist Objective Type Questions of 400 marks which will be based on General Studies and Aptitude Skills. This exam will be conducted by UPSC to short list candidates for main exam.

Civil Services (Main) Examination:

Those applicants who will be qualified in prelims exam only they will be able to participate in mains exam that will be based on written exam which consist 9 papers that will be based on languages, English, Essay types questions of 1750 marks will be asked in this exam.

Personality Test

A personality test of 275 Marks would be taken of the candidates qualified in the mains Examination. This would include the psychometric Test, Assessment Test as well as the Personal Interview. The Marks obtained in the Personality Test would be added in the calculation for the declaration of the final Merit list.

Important Note:

Aspirants are having the option to answer all the question papers, except the language papers, viz, Paper-I and Paper-II, in any one of the languages included in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution or in English.
