JEE Main Counselling 2018 JoSAA, CSAB Seat Allotment Procedure, New Dates

After the commencement of JEE Mains Examination, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority also abbreviated as JoSAA conducts the JEE Main Counselling procedure. Candidates who scored the minimum qualifying marks prescribed by the exam authorities may appear in the (Central Seat Allocation Board) CSAB Seat Allotment Procedure. Those seats that will be allocated by the CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) will be given to candidates applied for engineering and architecture courses in NITs, IIITs, and other Government Funded Institutes (GFTIs). There are 07 rounds that will be conducted in JEE Main Counselling 2018 and the final admission decision will be made on the basis of the procedure. As per the estimation the counselling procedure for the upcoming session will be held in month of June 2018. As soon as JEE Main Counselling New Dates release, we will update the information here.

The joint entrance examination (main) counseling will not be organized separately. JEE Main 2018 counseling will be organized collectively through JoSAA 2018 for 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 20 GFTIs, which are the participating institutes of JEE Main 2018. JEE Main 2018 Counselling and Seat Allotment procedure for different category candidates in different institutes:

  • Home State candidates to academic programs at the NITs and BITM (Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra)
  • Other States candidates to academic programs at the NITs and BITM

JEE Main Counselling Process:

Students who qualify Joint entrance main 2018 examination and get good rank in JEE 2018 rank, they are able to attend JEE main 2018 counseling. The counseling will be held in 7 stages, which are compulsory to attend for every rank holder of Joint entrance main 2018. The seat allotment procedure will be completed through these 7 steps:

  • Online Registration
  • Choice Filling
  • Choice Locking
  • Seat Allotment
  • Payment Of Fees
  • Reporting To The RC
  • Reporting To The Allotted Institute

Online Registration:

  • Interested candidates have to meet firstly official website of JoSAA that is
  • After that, hit on “Counselling Schedule” available at current event section at the left side of the home page.
  • A PDF page will be open on your screen which will be of “schedule of Events of JoSAA 2018”.
  • Aspirants are advised to read complete PDF for getting complete information.
  • After that, hit on “Press Here Registration and Choice Filling” button.
  • Now, enter JEE main roll number and other kind of essential details for filling vacant tabs.
  • Now, hit on “log in” button.
  • Now, fill online registration form” by enter roll number, e-mail, mobile number and other information.

Choice Filling & Locking Of Choices:

  • After filling online registration form, students will ask for their choices.
  • The choices will be appear on the screen, applicants have to choose institutes according to their preference.
  • After that, hit on “locking choice” option.
  • Your choice filling will be locked successfully.
  • Students are advice to select options more as you can.
  • You can delete, edit, change your choice until choice will be locked.

Seat Allotment:

  • The seat will be allotted to the deserving candidates by Joint Seat Allocation Authority under CSAB.
  • The seat will be allotted based on merit list or all India rank get in main examination and it is organizing in four phases as well as choices filled during counseling process.
  • Candidates are advised to take provisional letter from the center.
  • Candidates who will participated in JEE main, they are required to carry their essential and important documents for verification process.

Reporting to the allotted institute:

Students who have conformed their seat through seat allotment procedure, they have to report that institute at the decided date and time. Candidates have to complete their admission formalities by submitting admission fee and other type of formalities. Aspirants have to be submitted their original documents which are mentioned above for document verification.

Other Counselling Procedure

Other than the steps mentioned above there are some other steps and procedure also that are also to be followed:

Freeze, Float and Slide Options:


The freeze option is for those candidates who are satisfied with the seat allotted to them at the first round are not interested in attending any other round

FloatCandidates who accept the allotted seat & want to get admission to a better college, they will select this option. They can participate in further counselling rounds.

This option is for candidates, those accept the allotted seat & looking for the better option in the same institution.

Those candidates who choose the slide option are usually considered for second round of counseling

In order to make any sort of change like from float to slide/free & slide, etc. option, then aspirant need to visit the college/center allotted. The last round of seat allocation is always considered as the final decision making round hence no changes can be done after that. The slide & float option are only acceptable from those contenders who are not offered admission to their first preferences.

Withdraw of Seats:

If in case candidate is not satisfied and he/she want to withdraw his/her seat then he/she have to report at the reporting center before the sixth round of seat allocation.

After completing the withdrawing procedure candidates can try for the further counselling procedure

After seat withdraw, the seat acceptance fee will be refunded to the candidates after deduction of Rs. 1000 as a processing charge. For seat withdraw process, candidates have to fill their bank account details & upload an image of cancelled cheque (same account) in a JPEG/JPG format. After that, download the withdrawal request letter.

To complete the withdrawing procedure it is must for candidates to present the parents’ consent letter to the admission authorities.
