Every year, Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) organizes written examination for various Groups 1, 2, 4 to hire eligible candidates for filling up various posts. Candidates, who will appear for TNPSC Group 1 post, should know TNPSC Group 1 Eligibility Criteria 2018. TNPSC is conducting Group 1 Examination to fill the vacant post of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Deputy Collector, Assistant Director of Rural Development Department and Deputy Registrar of Co-operative Societies. TNPSC Group 1 Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit:

The age limit of the applying aspirants should be as per the requirement of the post which will be mentioned in the official notification.

Relaxation in upper age limit will be given to reserved candidates as per the Government rules and regulations.

Educational Qualification:

  • Applicants must be Graduate or equivalent as per the requirement of the post from the recognized University/Institution.
  • The candidates, who have written the final year degree examination, may also apply for the Preliminary Examination for direct recruitment to the posts included in Group-I Services.

Physical Qualification:

Applicants who are going to apply for the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category-I) must possess the following Physical qualifications:

  • For Men: Must be not less than 165 cms in Height and not less than 86 cms round the chest on full inspiration and must have a chest expansion of not less than 5 cms on full inspiration.
  • For Women: Must be not less than 155 cms in Height. The Chest measurement will not apply to them.

Knowledge of Tamil:

Candidates should possess adequate knowledge of Tamil.

Exam Selection Procedure:

The selection will be made in three successive stages:

  • Preliminary Examination
  • Main Written Examination
  • Interview

Preliminary Examination:

The Preliminary Examination is meant to serve as a screening test only. Qualified Aspirants for the Main Written Examination will not be counted for determining their final order of merit.
